1/6 Hot Toys MMS241 The Winter Soldier Review

I've had Bucky for a while now but thought I'd lift him out and take some pictures. Even though the film ends with giant floating battleships, I still appreciate the more down to Earth feel that rest of Captain America: The Winter Soldier has. I  personally loved the film and ended up buying multiple Hot Toys figures based on the film.

With the new Predator movie on the horizon (urgh) I was inspired to watch the two Predator movies the other night (that's right I'm ignoring the other films). After watching Predator 2 I couldn't resist lifting out my 'City Hunter' Predator and taking a few pictures.

1/6 Hot Toys MMS409 Batman (Rebreather .Ver)

I mentioned on an earlier post that I also bought a new Batman recently. None other than the BATFLECK!

This is the 'Rebreather version' i.e. the one Hot Toys released under the Suicide Squad branding, having previously released Batfleck as part of their Batman vs Superman series.

This figure is a joy to pose and photograph. I had a blast taking the pictures. Enjoy :)

1/6 Hot Toys MMS383 + MMS382 Suicide Squad Review

Over last Christmas I got various Suicide Squad figures. Yes I know the film wasn't the best ever and it divided fans like mad but I still maintain that the film has it's merits and I appreciate that they tried something different with the Joker, even though most people seem to hate it.

Lets face it though, it was always going to be a daunting task following up acts by Jack Nicholson, Mark Hamill and Heath Ledger. The quality of the film aside I thought the figures that Hot Toys produced for it where pretty eye catching and I operate on a rule that if the figure catches my eye enough, I don't care what it's based on I'll have it!

So far I've bought four Hot Toys figures based on the film, 2x Jokers, 1x Harley Quinn and Batman. Today I'm showing off the Jokers and Harley.

Hot Toys Captain Jack Sparrow DX06

Why has the rum gone?!! It's everyones favourite pirate Jack Sparrow. Hot Toys 6th deluxe figure to date. As with all Deluxe (DX) figures he comes with an array of accessories and Hot Toys trademarked PERS (Parallel Eye Rolling System) Which allows you to pose his eyes.

Hot Toys T800 Terminator 1

Finally buckled and bought Hot Toys T800 as seen in Terminator. Wow what a figure, I really love it!

Hot Toys Captain America photo review

I was really excited to get this figure after seeing the film. I don't know what the general reviews were like but I really enjoyed this film and I would probably place it high up on my super hero films list. It surprised me because I never really had any previous interest in the character. Anyway onward and upward, lets have a look at the figure itself!

Hot Toys Whiplash (Iron Man 2) Jumpsuit alteration.

Well I finally got around to changing the colour of Whiplash's jumpsuit. For legal reasons Hot Toys Could not release the figure with the correct orange jump suit as seen in the movie, tsk. So they went with a brown jumpsuit instead (see at the bottom of this post for the example)

Hot Toys T1000 (Terminator 2)

I've had this for a while now but oddly I never got around to photographing him. This is one of my favorite Hot Toys to date. His body has metal panels under the clothing which allows you to stick magnetic bullet holes to him, genius. He comes with 2 full outfits and 2 heads, if your a fellow collector and haven't picked this up yet, I strongly recommend you do. I just wish I had bought the exclusive extra head :(

Well What can I say? I love this figure, and I have to admit I'm on a bit of a Nam binge atm, having recently re-watched Platoon and then finally getting around to watching Apocalypse Now (yes for the first time) I do like a bit of Nam n explosions. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Hot Toys Batman DX Review

Wow it's been a while since I uploaded some pictures (I am so lazy). Well thought I'd lift Batman out of the cabinet and give him a photo shoot. This is Hot Toys Batman from the movie 'Batman: Dark Knight'. Ok, so I decided to add a one to five star rating system and from now on I'll be reviewing in a category style to give my reviews a bit more structure.

Hot Toys Leonidas 300 Review Pt1

This IS SPARTA! Well Personally I loved the movie, and this was a must buy for me. This is King Leonidas from the movie 300, based on the well known Frank Miller graphic novel and of course in turn based on (loosley) the historic events of the battle of Thermopylae. Hot Toys have really outdone themselves here, I mean he's a character with little to no costume on and yet there's still no articulation on show!

His frame is basically a modified True Type body with an outer skin of latex. The skin works really well and better than on previous attempts such as the Predator Arnie figure that Hot Toys have done. The skin doesn't restrict his movement half as much in that instance.

His joints all work well and are pretty stiff. They are capable of holding pretty much any pose you place him into.

I was really suprised how easy it is to get him into poses such as the one above.

Hot Toys decided to include an alternative head sculpt right at the last minute, which is the one above in most of the shots. In the promo pics he had a relaxed face and most people went mad on the forums complaining haha. Guess it pays to whine!

The muscle definition is a teeny bit off compared to Gerrard Butlers chest in the movie, but still overlooking such a small point, he really does look great.

His shield is made from a tough plastic which is painted to great effect to appear bronze.
The arrow heads are detachable and there's even some alternative arrows with their flight tips intact thrown into the set.

The cloak is also really well done , it's made from a very heavy but soft material. It kinda reminds me of those anti-static cloths you get for dusting lcd tvs.

The helmet simply slips off the head and doesn't require any fiddly fasteners or anything. It's made from the same plastic as the shield and again painted to appear bronze. The plume is well done and very life like.

Check back for part two when I look closer at his outfit and accessories that he comes with.

Hot Toys Leonidas 300 Review Pt 2

Ok part two as promised. Btw if you missed part one then go check it out first HERE. Let's take a closer look then at some of his outfit and a closer look at the face without his helmet. I have to be honest and say I really can't decide if I prefer him with or without his helmet.

The above and below face is the one I mentioned in the previous part, in the first promo pictures Leonidas only had this face sculpt. Although it's a great likeness to Butler, it's just a tad bland for me. I do like the thoughtfulness in his face but when it comes to expressions it had to be a shouting face or nothing for this figure.

Ironically the Spartan warrior is always portrayed in this way or very similiar through movies and various media, however as historians have shown, Spartan warriors would more often than not wear full breast armour. They were tough no doubt, but not stupid!

His spear is made from a very light wood and looks great. I personally prefer this look to when he is holding his sword.

Another great piece of detail is the wolf tooth necklace that he comes with.

The shin guards are removable and just highlight the attention this figure has received from Hot Toys. A lesser company would have just sculped the legs as one piece or something cost cutting like that. The shin guards are held in place by tiny leather ties that are at the back of the piece of armour.

His little plaited tail at the back is sculped plastic rather than fake hair. Probably a wise choice, it would have looked out of place compared to the rest of the head.

As with the shin guards, his wrist guards are removable. It's also worth pointing out how well the latex skin works, it folds pretty realistically and gives the impression of real skin.

His scabbard is made from a fake leather material and has tiny stitching all the way around. His sword slips into it without any hassle. Very well done.

Here's the set laid out, Different head, spare palms, a spear, removable helmet. If you you collect 1/6 figures I really can't recommend Leonidas enough. Well worth the spend.

Hot Toys Blade Review Pt 1

Well after much consideration I finally ended up splashing out on Blade, I really wasn't sure if I was going to get this figure seeing as there's just so much on the horizon coming from Hot Toys. But after seeing all the accessories he comes with and how well done overall he is, I just buckled.

Anyway lets get cracking, he really is worth the money I paid for him. Right out of the box he poses with no problem at all and strikes you as really high quality. His outfit is superbly crafted and fits him well. He stands like most hot toys approx 12 inches tall. He's based on the not so good sequel to the much loved Wesley Snipes film Blade. To be fair I can understand why they covered the second film and not the first, The character Blade became more developed in the sequel with a more stylised look and a longer list of gadgets, which basically translates well into a figure :) which is what we all really care about anyway right?

Speaking of gadgets, Blade really has some cool guns and the attention to detail to each gun he comes with (3 in total) is really something. I'll cover his pistols in a bit but just wanted to mention how much I loved his Machine gun from the film. I always love square bulky looking guns for some reason heh. The magazine is removable from the lil replica below and over all it feels really solid and well made.

His leather outfit is really well replicated at this scale, its made from a pleather type material and as you can see it holds its shape and folds just like its 1:1 counterpart. The inside of his jacket is lined with a red satin like material, adding to the overall quality of the piece, also his jacket has thin wiring running through it in places so you can pose and shape the end of the jacket as you wish, guess thats for some bad assery type walking off into the wind type poses!

His sword and sheath slides into the hole on the back of his jacket and is held in place by a plastic catch. I generally just pose him with the sword in place like this.

The glasses are worth a mention too, I love the fact they are slightly transparent and not just solid black plastic, man 1:6 figures have come a long way in the past 10 years.

Its an overall strong sculpt by Hot Toys, they really caught the look of Wesley Snipes. Though I can imagine he's quite a bit easier to sculpt than some due to his more unusual features.

The glasses just pop right off him showing a steely gaze underneath.

Don't know why but I really love the boots, the photo makes them look pretty big, but in fact they are really small yet have such great detail.

With a small amount of effort his leather coat slips off and shows off the great padded vest he has on. Although his articulation range with the coat on is great, he really shines with the coat off. You can get some really high poses with his arms as you'd expect from the Hot Toys True Type body that Blade sports. Below are his dual pistols that I mentioned earlier. More on them shortly.

I love the way his outfit sits perfectly on him, Hot Toys do an outstanding job with their materials recently.

And of course he has his leg mounted Silver Stakes for killing those pesky Vamps. Kind of a shame but he doesn't come with his shotgun that fires them, not sure though, was that in the first film only???

The hair line and tattoo on the back of his head is amazing, it really sold the figure to me when I first saw the promo pics. Everything about this figure oozes quality.
